COVID-19 & VISITING YOUR GP SURGERY - PLEASE WEAR FACE COVERINGS.

COVID-19 PROTECTIONS ARE STILL IN PLACE lN THlS SURGERY.

In line with current Government guidance patients are required to continue to wear a face covering in all healthcare settings.

Face coverings primarily protect others. so doing so- unless exempt – is key to preventing spread of infection.

CONTINUE TO RESPECT (2M) SOCIAL DISTANCING

TEST AND ISOLATE IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS.

If you have symptoms you must get a PCR test as soon as possible & before visiting your GP. Rapid lateral flow tests should not be used to confirm infection.

lt's vital that you and anyone in your household isolate until you receive your test result, and for  10 days thereafter if the result is positive.

Wash/Sanitise Hands Regularly

Face to Face Appointments

We understand that some patients may be feeling that they are unable to see their GP face to face. At Kenmore we are committed to offering face to face appointments and have been throughout the pandemic. We have a new system in place for the safety of our patients and staff whereby patients will be consulted with over the phone and it will be determined if a face to face appointment is necessary at that stage. Please be patient with us whilst we try to offer the best healthcare we can whilst looking after everyone's safety.

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If you have any of these symptoms, please go to a Covid test centre and get a PCR test to check if you have coronavirus. Stay at home until you get your result. The test will be processed in a laboratory. A lateral flow test is not adequate or appropriate.

About 1 in 3 people with coronavirus do not have symptoms but can still infect others. This is why everyone is advised to get tested regularly.

If your child has symptoms of a new onset cough, temperature or loss of smell or taste, it is important you isolate and arrange a PCR test as soon as possible. If they have had a PCR test and it is negative, a GP can safely assess the child in practice if needed, otherwise you may be required to attend an alternative place for assessment which may not be as convenient for you. A lateral flow test is not an adequate COVID test for children who are symptomatic.

A PCR test can be arranged by following this link: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

GP Surgeries at Crisis Point

Practice Profile

We provide primary care services to our registered list of approximately 12,966 patients.

Our Doctors and Nurses offer a wide range of clinical skills and the whole Practice Team is committed to providing quality care to our patients. In order to maintain the quality of these services, we limit registration only to those residing within our Practice Area.

Non-UK citizens registering with the surgery are advised that doing so may not necessarily entitle them to free access to other NHS services (eg hospital treatment) and they are advised to clarify their individual situation with the Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

Website

Our website has been designed to make it easy to gain access to information you may require. In addition to booking appointments and requesting repeat medication you will find a wealth of health related topics with links to relevant services. We are grateful to our Patient Group for their contribution to its design and content. Please look around our Website and contact us with any suggestions for further improvement.

Medical Emergencies

In an emergency dial 999 for an ambulance. Accident and Emergency Departments are located at your nearest hospital:

  • Macclesfield District General Victoria Road Macclesfield 01625 421000
  • Wythenshawe Hosptial Southmoor Road Wythenshawe 0161 998 7070
  • Stepping Hill Hospital Poplar Grove Stockport 0161 483 1010

Management Of Sudden Chest Pain In Adults

It is important that there is no delay in your being assessed and treated for a possible heart attack if you experience sudden chest pain. The quickest way to do this is to dial 999 – telephoning the surgery will only cause delay. Once an ambulance call has been made the crew will notify the Accident and Emergency department that you are on your way.

This will alert the cardiac team to be waiting with equipment and drugs – with a heart attack, the quicker these drugs are given the more effective they will be.

You do not need to be concerned that your pain may turn out not to be a heart attack – there can be false alarms – but getting to A & E without delay offers the best chance of a good outcome if you are having a heart attack.

(This advice has been disseminated by the Macclesfield A&E Consultant to all surgeries in the area.)
